When it comes to weight loss programs on your journey to physical fitness, if you’re anything like me, I know you only care about one thing: consistent results. And when you don’t see great results, and fast, you get frustrated. When you get frustrated, it’s “Hello, bad habits” and that weight loss program goes right out the window. Does this sound like anyone you know?
If it is, I have information you want to listen to right now.
Here, at Living Well Balanced, we understand how easy it is to become frustrated with a weight loss or fitness programs. Especially when you feel like you’re doing everything right but just not seeing the results you want. That’s why I’m excited and proud to share with you the way we approach weight loss, keeping that weight off, and a sustainable fitness program that is simple to follow.
At Living Well Balanced, we bring together a team of experts to guide you to your fitness goals. The technology used in our office allows us to find the root causes of problems so we can provide better programs to get you to your fitness goals, faster. Our nutritionists, personal trainers, and chiropractors use the most cutting edge technology and laboratory testing to assess where your body is at and design a program specific to you, and you alone, based on that technology. We constantly monitor your body on your fitness journey so that you can see, with your own eyes, the data for yourself!
In fact, the technology we use here at Living Well Balanced is the same technology used in the NASA Johnson Space Center’s Workforce Wellness Program for their employees and their families. Yes, the same technology NASA employees use to stay physically fit is available to you right here in Raleigh! This new technology is called Direct Segmental Multi-Frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. I know that sounds like a mouthful, but let me explain what this tool is and how it works.
For the first time, we can directly measure the entire body’s composition, with astonishing accuracy. Every section of the body is accounted for. Knowing how much you weigh tells you very little because people can have the same body weight but have completely different compositions, body types, and health risks. Your body fat percentage puts your weight into context, telling you far more about yourself than just how heavy you are. This new technology allows us to measure your Percent Body Fat, Lean Body Mass, how water is distributed between intracellular and extracellular environments, and measures how much true muscle mass is being built.
In fact, we can even measure if muscle is being built more on one side of the body than the other, and then focus on a fitness regimen to strengthen the weaker side to bring your muscles into balance.
I think you can agree with me, this technology is vital to approaching fitness in a whole new light!
Once we have established a baseline body composition for your body, our personal trainers design a fitness plan you will stick with. We meet your needs and goals based off functional movement first and how it impacts your activities of daily life — going up and down the stairs, carrying heavy items, tying your shoes, sitting all day, running your 7th marathon or helping you fit into your clothes again. Our trainers create a specific program that matches your individual needs and specific body type.
Our personal trainers have found great success using the High-Intensity Interval training, better known as HIIT. In 2011, Journal of Obesity published an article examining how effective HIIT is at burning fat compared to aerobic exercise. They found that HIIT has been shown to be effective in torching body fat more than other types of exercise. In terms of belly fat, studies found that HIIT workouts help reduce both visceral (fat around the organs) and subcutaneous (under the skin) fat.
Another study I found to be compelling for HIIT was published in Medical Science Sports Exercise, in 2008. Here, they compared the results between a group of participants who committed to three days a week of high intensity exercise and another group who did five days a week of low-intensity exercise.
After sixteen weeks, the researchers discovered that the participants who committed to high intensity exercise for three days a week lost more fat than the group who showed up for low-intensity steady-state exercise.
HIIT’s significant role in reducing fat mass is good news if you’re not seeing results in reducing your body fat percentage (particularly that stubborn belly fat) despite your regular workout routine.
And we all know, it’s all about the consistent results!
Our state of the art body composition analysis technology and our personal trainers on the leading edge of exercise science will get you the consistent results you want when it comes to your fitness goals!
